BLACKPINK’s Rosé Returns With Garage-Punk Single ‘New Trick’

BLACKPINK member Rosé has released the energetic garage-punk single “New Trick,” pairing a message about overcoming hardship with a music video directed by Dave Meyers and produced in collaboration with Apple.

BLACKPINK member Rosé released a new single titled “New Trick” on Friday, adding a garage-punk track to her solo catalog and reuniting with collaborators connected to some of her recent work.

The Black Label described the song as energetic and said its central message is about overcoming hardship and finding a personal way to move forward. The title’s “new trick” serves as the phrase through which the track frames that determination, placing resilience at the center of the release.

The recording also brings together producers with established links to Rosé’s music. Amy Allen, who worked on the singer’s hit “APT.,” co-produced “New Trick.” Andrew Wells, a collaborator on Rosé’s “Stay a Little Longer,” also took part in producing the new single. Their involvement connects the release to both the high-profile pop success of “APT.” and another part of Rosé’s solo repertoire while the garage-punk description gives the latest song its own musical identity.

A music video arrived alongside the single. The video was made in collaboration with Apple to coincide with the release of the iPhone 18, linking the song’s rollout to a major consumer technology launch. Dave Meyers directed the project. Meyers has previously worked with internationally prominent artists including Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande.

The combination of a new song, a veteran music-video director and a technology partnership gives “New Trick” a broad launch across music and visual media. Rather than presenting the release as an isolated audio track, the campaign places equal emphasis on its sound, its forward-looking message and its video production.

For Rosé, the single extends solo activity beyond her work as a member of BLACKPINK. It also continues relationships with creators who have contributed to her earlier songs, while introducing a release built around a more guitar-driven genre label. The garage-punk positioning distinguishes “New Trick” from a conventional pop description and focuses attention on the track’s energy.

“New Trick” is now the latest entry in Rosé’s individual discography. Its release centers on a concise theme: hardship can be met by discovering another way ahead. That message, supported by returning producers and an internationally experienced director, shapes both the song and the visual campaign accompanying it.
