South Korea Wins Asian Games Team Rapid-Fire Pistol Gold After 12-Year Wait
Yoon Seo-yeong, Song Jong-ho and Lee Gun-hyeok combined for 1,749 points to beat China and secure South Korea’s first Asian Games title in the men’s team 25-meter rapid-fire pistol event since 2014.
South Korea captured the gold medal in the men’s team 25-meter rapid-fire pistol competition at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday, ending a 12-year wait for another title in the event.
The Korean trio of Yoon Seo-yeong, Song Jong-ho and Lee Gun-hyeok recorded a combined score of 1,749 points in the final at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota, Japan. The venue is about 25 kilometers east of Nagoya, the main host city for the Games.
China finished second with 1,740 points, leaving South Korea with a nine-point winning margin. Indonesia claimed the bronze medal after scoring 1,720 points, 29 points behind the Korean team. The result returned South Korea to the top of the Asian Games podium in the discipline for the first time since 2014.
The victory adds an important shooting gold to South Korea’s campaign in Aichi and Nagoya. Rapid-fire pistol demands consistency across the entire team, and the combined format meant every score from Yoon, Song and Lee contributed to the final standings. Their total was enough to hold off China, one of the strongest shooting nations in Asian competition, in a tightly contested race for first place.
For South Korea, the result also restores a title that had remained out of reach at the Asian Games for more than a decade. The gap between gold and silver underlined the value of the Korean shooters’ collective performance, while the larger cushion over Indonesia secured their place at the front of the medal standings.
The team event is part of the shooting program at the 2026 Asian Games, which are being staged across Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya. Thursday’s final placed the spotlight on Toyota’s shooting venue as the Korean athletes delivered one of the delegation’s notable results of the day. It also demonstrated the depth of a squad able to produce a winning aggregate against two strong regional rivals.
Yoon, Song and Lee now join South Korea’s previous Asian Games champions in the event. Their 1,749-point total gives the country a renewed benchmark in the men’s team rapid-fire pistol competition and marks a successful return to the top step of the continental podium.
