Taihan Cable Wins $89 Million US High-Voltage Cable Order
South Korea’s Taihan Cable secured a 120 billion won turnkey contract to supply a high-voltage alternating-current cable system for a US power network operator.
South Korea’s Taihan Cable & Solution has secured a 120 billion won ($89 million) contract to supply a high-voltage cable system in the United States, adding a major overseas project to its growing order book.
The company, South Korea’s second-largest cable maker, said Thursday that the customer is a US power network operator. It did not identify the operator or disclose the project’s location and completion schedule.
The contract covers a high-voltage alternating-current cable system and will be delivered on a turnkey basis. That means Taihan Cable will handle the full project cycle, including engineering, manufacturing, installation and testing, rather than limiting its role to supplying cable products.
The deal highlights rising investment in the infrastructure needed to move electricity across the United States. Taihan Cable said demand for large turnkey cable projects is expanding rapidly as the artificial intelligence industry grows and investment in data centers increases. Such facilities require substantial and reliable power capacity, creating business opportunities for companies that can provide complete transmission solutions.
Taihan Cable said it plans to continue pursuing opportunities in the US market and respond to a broad range of customer requirements. The latest award gives the company another foothold in a market where utilities and network operators are upgrading systems to accommodate new sources of electricity demand.
The order is also significant in relation to the company’s existing pipeline. Taihan Cable reported a cable order backlog of 4.06 trillion won at the end of June. The new US contract is equal to roughly 3 percent of that figure, although the company did not say when the project would be reflected in revenue.
By taking responsibility for design through final testing, Taihan Cable assumes broader execution duties than it would under a product-only sale. Turnkey projects can deepen relationships with network operators while demonstrating the engineering and installation capabilities needed to compete for further work.
The company’s announcement comes as power infrastructure has become an increasingly important constraint on the expansion of data centers and other electricity-intensive facilities. For Taihan Cable, the 120 billion won award strengthens its US business position while reinforcing the scale of demand linked to grid expansion and digital infrastructure investment.
