Yu Hae-ran Takes Four-Shot Lead Into BMW Ladies Championship Final Round
World No. 3 Yu Hae-ran finished the third round of the BMW Ladies Championship at 17 under par, opening a four-shot lead as she pursues her third LPGA Tour victory of the season.
South Korea’s Yu Hae-ran will carry a four-shot lead into the final round of the BMW Ladies Championship after closing strongly on Saturday at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam, South Jeolla Province.
The world No. 3 carded a four-under-par 68 in the third round, combining five birdies with one bogey to reach 17-under 199. Her performance kept her alone at the top of the leaderboard for a second consecutive day at the LPGA Tour event, which has a total purse of $2.35 million.
Yu made her first birdie at the par-five sixth and turned in one under. She gained another shot at the par-four 10th before giving one back with a bogey at the par-three 15th. Rather than allowing the late mistake to narrow her advantage, she responded with three consecutive birdies at the 16th, 17th and 18th holes. The finishing run gave her clear separation from the chasing group before Sunday’s deciding round.
The tournament offers Yu an opportunity to complete a three-win LPGA season. She has already won two major championships this year, and another victory on home soil would add a third title while strengthening her standing among the tour’s leading players. She is also in contention for the Vare Trophy, awarded to the player with the season’s lowest scoring average.
Park Min-ji produced one of the day’s best rounds, shooting seven under to move to 13-under 203. She shares second place with fellow South Korean Choi Hye-jin and Japan’s Yuri Yoshida. All three are four strokes behind Yu, leaving them within reach but requiring a strong final round and likely some help from the leader.
Several other Korean players remain high on the leaderboard. Kim Min-ju stands fifth at 12 under, while Kim Hyo-joo and Kim Min-sun share seventh at 11 under. Kim Min-sol, who leads the Korea LPGA Tour’s money list and rookie points standings, is tied for 11th at 10 under alongside Jeon Ji-won and others.
Yu’s advantage and late-round momentum put her in the strongest position, but the group immediately behind her ensures that the final round will still carry competitive pressure. A steady closing performance would secure another major result in what has already been a standout season.
