Daegu Launches New Initiative to Enhance Urban Landscape

Daegu Metropolitan City has announced a comprehensive new initiative aimed at enhancing and preserving its distinctive urban landscape. Titled the “Daegu Urban Landscape Enhancement Project,” this move underscores the city’s commitment to creating a more beautiful, livable, and sustainable environment for its residents and visitors.

The project seeks to integrate natural beauty with urban development, focusing on several key areas. These include improving green spaces, managing architectural aesthetics, enhancing public facilities, and promoting unique cultural elements across the city. The ultimate goal is to foster a strong sense of local identity while boosting the quality of life and attracting tourism to Daegu, a major city in South Korea.

As part of this initiative, Daegu City is inviting its citizens to actively participate by sharing their ideas and visions for the city’s future appearance. Residents aged 18 and above are eligible to submit proposals on how to beautify their neighborhoods, improve public spaces, or contribute to sustainable urban design. This public engagement aims to gather innovative and practical suggestions directly from those who experience the city daily.

Submissions will be accepted online via the official Daegu Metropolitan City portal (a hypothetical URL such as www.daegu.go.kr/urbanlandscape) from October 1, 2023, to October 31, 2023. Participants are encouraged to provide detailed descriptions and, if possible, visual aids with their proposals. A panel of urban planning experts and city officials will review the submissions, with selected ideas potentially being incorporated into future city planning and development projects. Winners of outstanding ideas will be announced on November 30, 2023, and may receive recognition or small incentives.

Through this collaborative approach, Daegu Metropolitan City aims to build a cityscape that not only meets modern demands but also preserves its unique heritage and natural charm, ensuring a vibrant and appealing environment for generations to come. Further details regarding the initiative and submission guidelines are available on the city’s official website.
