Yeongnam Businesses Briefed on Korean Government Support Programs

The Yeongnam Branch of the Labor-Management Development Foundation (LMD Foundation), a public institution under South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor, recently held an integrated briefing session to inform local businesses about various government support programs. The event, publicized on April 3, 2026, aimed to consolidate information on essential corporate assistance schemes, making them more accessible and understandable for companies in the southeastern region of the country, including Busan and Gyeongnam provinces.

This comprehensive briefing was a collaborative effort, jointly organized by the Daegu Labor-Management Win-Win Center, Gyeongnam Discrimination Improvement Center, and Busan Middle-Aged and Senior Tomorrow Center—all integral parts of the LMD Foundation’s Yeongnam network. The Busan Employment Welfare+ Center, operating under the Ministry of Employment and Labor, also partnered in the initiative. The goal was to enhance businesses’ understanding of public policies and facilitate their practical utilization, thereby reducing the burden of searching for diverse information.

Approximately 50 human resources managers from businesses across the Busan and Gyeongnam areas attended the session, demonstrating significant interest. The briefing covered a wide array of policies crucial for corporate operations, including:

  • Labor-Management Win-Win Support Systems: Programs designed to foster cooperative relations between employers and employees.
  • Discrimination Improvement Systems: Initiatives aimed at preventing and rectifying workplace discrimination.
  • Employer Support and Career Support Systems: Assistance for businesses and employees’ career development, particularly for middle-aged and senior workers.
  • Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Employment Incentive Systems: Financial incentives for companies that create jobs or maintain employment.

Beyond presentations, the event featured dedicated consultation booths where participating companies could engage directly with representatives from each collaborating institution. This allowed for personalized guidance tailored to specific business situations, which attendees highly appreciated. The on-site feedback from company officials indicated high satisfaction with the comprehensive and practical information provided.

Oh Yu-kyung, head of the LMD Foundation’s Yeongnam Branch, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to reducing information-seeking burdens for businesses and increasing their utilization of support systems by offering integrated guidance. “We hope this briefing session will be of practical help to companies in leveraging these policies effectively,” Oh stated. While specific application deadlines for the individual programs were not part of the briefing itself, interested businesses in the Yeongnam region are encouraged to contact the respective centers for detailed eligibility criteria and application procedures.
