Daegu Offers Spring Accommodation Discounts to Boost Tourism

Daegu Metropolitan City, in collaboration with the Daegu Cultural & Arts Promotion Agency, is launching a special spring accommodation discount event this April. This initiative is part of the national “Korea Accommodation Sale Festa,” a program driven by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization to invigorate domestic tourism across South Korea.

The “Daegu Edition” of the festival offers significant savings on lodging within the city. Travelers booking through participating online travel agencies (OTAs) can receive discounts based on their total accommodation cost. For single-night stays, a ₩30,000 discount is available on bookings of ₩70,000 (approx. $50 USD) or more, while bookings under ₩70,000 will receive a ₩20,000 discount. To encourage longer visits, new multi-night stay benefits include a ₩70,000 discount for bookings of ₩140,000 (approx. $100 USD) or more, and a ₩50,000 discount for bookings under ₩140,000.

Discount coupons will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, with each individual eligible for one coupon. These coupons become available starting April 8th through various online travel platforms. Once issued, the coupons can be used for bookings with a stay period extending until April 30th. Eligible accommodations include all registered lodging facilities within the Daegu region, adhering to local tourism and public health regulations.

Major online platforms participating in this special offer include Gmarket, Lotte ON, KakaoTalk Reservation, MyRealTrip, Yeogi Eottae, NOL, and 11th Street, ensuring broad accessibility for travelers. This expanded network aims to make booking discounts more convenient for visitors planning a spring trip to the southeastern city.

The initiative seeks to draw more tourists to Daegu during the pleasant spring season, reducing their travel costs and thereby stimulating the local economy. The introduction of multi-night stay discounts is particularly aimed at encouraging visitors to extend their stay in Daegu, leading to increased local consumption and a broader positive impact on the city’s tourism industry. Kang Sung-gil, head of the Daegu Cultural & Arts Promotion Agency’s Tourism Headquarters, expressed hopes that the event would provide affordable travel opportunities for tourists and inject new vitality into the local tourism sector.
