Daegu Metropolitan City’s Agricultural Technology Center will host a free “Companion Plant Clinic” in April 2026, providing expert guidance to residents struggling to care for their indoor plants. This initiative aims to foster healthy plant cultivation and support the city’s urban agriculture specialists.
The clinic is scheduled for three sessions, held every Tuesday from 2 PM to 5 PM, between April 14 and April 28, 2026. All sessions will take place at the Agricultural Technology Center. The program is open to Daegu citizens who pre-register through the Daegu Integrated Reservation System, an official online platform used by the city for various public service bookings. Participants are asked to bring one of their own companion plants for consultation.
At the clinic, attendees will receive a comprehensive check-up for their plants, including diagnosis for pests and diseases. Experts will provide professional consultations on repotting, offer suitable treatment prescriptions, and share practical home care tips. The term “companion plant” (반려식물, bannyeo sikmul) in Korea refers to plants that are cared for with affection similar to pets, often contributing to people’s emotional well-being.
The sessions will be led by certified “Urban Agriculture Experts” who have been trained and qualified by the Daegu Agricultural Technology Center. This program not only offers valuable assistance to citizens but also provides these experts with crucial practical experience, strengthens their professional capabilities, and supports the growth of urban agriculture within the city.
Kim Su-jin, Director of the Daegu Metropolitan City Agricultural Technology Center, emphasized that the clinic will serve as a practical, on-site program offering solutions for plant cultivation challenges and promoting emotional stability among residents. The center also aims to empower urban agriculture experts by expanding their professional activities.
