Korea’s Health Ministry Seeks Partner for New Nurse Training System

The Ministry of Health and Welfare has re-opened its call for applications from organizations interested in managing the evaluation and designation of training institutions for “Clinical Support Nurses.” The chosen partner will also be responsible for developing a comprehensive system to monitor the education completion of these specialized nurses.

This initiative stems from Article 25, Paragraph 3 of the recently enacted Nursing Act, a significant piece of legislation aimed at formalizing and enhancing the roles of nurses within the Korean healthcare system. Clinical Support Nurses are envisioned to play a vital role in addressing evolving medical demands and optimizing patient care by expanding the scope of nursing practice, similar to advanced practice nurses in other countries.

The designated agency’s primary responsibilities will include establishing rigorous criteria for evaluating and approving institutions qualified to train Clinical Support Nurses. Furthermore, the agency will be tasked with building an efficient digital platform to track the educational progress and certification of nurses completing these specialized programs, ensuring standardized and high-quality training nationwide.

Interested organizations are invited to submit their proposals. Applications for this outsourced project will be accepted for a brief period from April 10 to April 16, 2026. Further details regarding eligibility requirements and the application process can be found in the official notice published by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This move underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening the nursing workforce and adapting healthcare services to future challenges, ensuring that specialized nurses are adequately trained and integrated into the national medical infrastructure.
