Daegu City Connects Unemployed Youth with Leading Local Firms

Daegu City to Offer Hands-On Career Exploration for Young Job Seekers

Daegu Metropolitan City is launching its ‘2026 Local Excellent Company Exploration Program,’ offering unemployed youth residing in the city a unique opportunity to gain practical industry experience and explore potential career paths. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between promising local enterprises and young job seekers, providing a clearer understanding of real-world work environments to aid in career development.

This year’s program, designed to be more interactive, moves beyond traditional site visits. Participants will be organized into small groups of approximately six, visiting companies to conduct in-depth interviews with current employees and tour facilities. Following the visits, they will compile reports and presentations to reflect on their experiences and assess their career aspirations and competencies.

The program will feature visits to eight prominent local companies across various sectors. In May, participants will explore Samboo Motors Co., an automotive parts specialist; the Daegu Digital Innovation Agency, a leader in digital transformation; Coffee Myungga Co., a renowned local brand; and Suwol Oriental Medicine Hospital, a significant institution in traditional Korean medicine. The June sessions will include I.M. Data Co., a data analytics firm, and Korea Gas Corporation, a major state-owned energy company, allowing participants to experience diverse industries and broaden their understanding of the regional economy.

Eligibility for the program is open to unemployed youth aged 19 to 39 who reside in Daegu. Around 50 participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply promptly through the official Daegu Job Portal website (job.daegu.go.kr). While the May cohort is currently being recruited, Daegu City plans to announce the June program schedule and recruitment details sequentially.

Park Ki-hwan, Director of Daegu Metropolitan City’s Economic Bureau, emphasized the program’s dual benefits. “We hope this exploration helps our youth rediscover the excellence of local companies and provides a valuable platform for businesses to connect with future talent,” he stated. “Daegu City is committed to actively supporting young people in developing successful career strategies based on the practical experiences gained during these visits.” For inquiries, contact the Daegu City One-Stop Job Support Center at 053-803-1919.
