The Ministry of Health and Welfare has announced a public recruitment for long-term care institutions to participate in its third “Unit Care Pilot Project.” This initiative aims to develop a specialized “Korean-style Unit Care Model” designed to provide a more home-like and personalized environment for residents.
Unit care is an increasingly adopted approach in long-term care facilities, where residents are grouped into small, self-contained units, often sharing common living spaces. This model aims to foster a sense of community, enhance individual dignity, and provide more focused, tailored care compared to traditional large-scale institutional settings. This third phase of the pilot project underscores the ministry’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life and care standards for seniors and individuals requiring long-term support in South Korea.
Eligible participants include relevant long-term care institutions that are interested in adopting and refining this innovative care model. The Ministry encourages active participation from facilities dedicated to advancing care quality and creating a more comfortable, supportive environment for their residents. Selected institutions will play a crucial role in shaping the future of long-term care services in the nation.
The application period for this project runs from April 13, 2026, to May 8, 2026. Interested long-term care facilities should refer to the detailed announcement and application forms, which are available on the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s official website. For specific inquiries regarding the application process or project details, institutions may contact the Long-Term Care Insurance Operations Division directly at 044-202-3516.
