South Korea’s Second Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), Hong Jisun, is set to attend the upcoming International Transport Forum (ITF) Transport Ministers’ Meeting. The high-level gathering will focus on addressing global challenges in the transportation sector, particularly the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) and the enhancement of transport resilience.
The ITF, an intergovernmental organization that operates within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) family, serves as a crucial global platform for transport policy. It regularly convenes transport ministers from member countries to discuss strategic issues, foster international cooperation, and share best practices to collaboratively shape the future of transportation worldwide.
During the meeting, Vice Minister Hong is expected to participate in comprehensive discussions aimed at strengthening global collaboration to respond effectively to pressing challenges. Key agenda points will include exploring innovative ways to integrate AI into transportation systems for greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability, as well as developing robust strategies to ensure the resilience and adaptability of transport networks against various future disruptions, such as natural disasters or pandemics.
Furthermore, the Korean delegation plans to showcase South Korea’s forward-thinking policies for fostering future mobility. This initiative aims to present the nation’s advanced strategies and ongoing projects designed to develop and implement new transportation technologies and services. The objective is to expand international partnerships and share Korea’s expertise on the global stage, contributing to shared progress in mobility innovation.
