The Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) has announced a recruitment drive for a local government official to join its Long-Term Care Insurance Operations Division. This initiative aims to integrate valuable on-the-ground perspectives from local administrations into national policy formulation for the long-term care system.
This is a temporary secondment position, where the selected individual will remain employed by their current local government but will be dispatched to work at the central Ministry. The move is designed to ensure that policies developed by the MOHW are practical and responsive to the needs of local communities across the country.
The Ministry is seeking one civil servant, specifically those holding a 6th to 9th grade rank (mid-level officials), with extensive field experience. Eligible candidates must be currently employed in social welfare, administrative, health, or nursing roles within a local government body. The successful applicant will serve a one-year term starting mid-July 2026, with the possibility of extension based on project needs.
The primary responsibilities of the role will include managing and overseeing pilot projects related to ‘Unit Care’ and ‘Professional Long-Term Care Rooms,’ along with their associated statistical analysis. These projects are crucial components of South Korea’s evolving long-term care insurance system, designed to enhance care quality and efficiency. The position will be based at the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s annex office in Sejong Special Self-Governing City.
Interested and eligible local government officials must submit their applications between Monday, May 11, 2026, and Friday, May 29, 2026. Following the application period, selected candidates will be invited for interviews, which are scheduled to take place in Sejong City between Monday, June 1, 2026, and Friday, June 5, 2026. Specific interview details will be communicated individually to shortlisted applicants.
The final selection is expected to be announced by Thursday, June 11, 2026. It is imperative that the applicant’s current local government agrees to the dispatch; the Ministry’s Long-Term Care Insurance Operations Division will facilitate requests for cooperation from the relevant local authorities.
Applicants are required to submit a self-introduction letter via email. The specific form for this letter will be provided by the Ministry. All submissions should be sent to wotjs0321@korea.kr. When submitting, please ensure the file name follows the format: [City_District_Name.hwp] (e.g., [Seoul_Jongno-gu_HongGildong.hwp]). For any inquiries regarding the recruitment process, please contact Mr. Lim Jae-seon of the Long-Term Care Insurance Operations Division at 044-202-3521.
