1Incheon Metropolitan City has announced the launch of its 2026 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Assistive Devices Distribution Project. This initiative aims to enhance digital accessibility for residents with disabilities and national merit recipients who encounter difficulties in utilizing standard ICT devices, such as computers. The program will provide specialized assistive devices and software tailored to various needs.
Eligibility for the program extends to individuals officially registered under Korea’s Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities. Additionally, those who have received a disability rating under the Act on the Honorable Treatment and Support of Persons of National Merit, etc., are also encouraged to apply. The project offers substantial financial support, covering 80% of the assistive device’s cost, with applicants responsible for the remaining 20%. For eligible individuals classified as Basic Livelihood Recipients or from Near-Poverty Households – categories under Korea’s social welfare system for low-income families – an additional 50% discount on their personal contribution will be applied, reducing their out-of-pocket expense to just 10% of the device’s total price.
The application period runs from May 7 to June 23, 2026. Prospective applicants can submit their forms online at www.at4u.or.kr, via postal mail (ensuring arrival by the deadline), or by visiting their local district (gun/gu) office based on their registered residential address. Required documentation includes a completed application form, a certificate of disability or national merit, and, if applicable, proof of Basic Livelihood Recipient or Near-Poverty Household status to qualify for additional discounts.
Successful applicants will be notified on July 16, 2026, with announcements also posted on the Incheon Metropolitan City website. The window for paying the personal contribution is set for July 17 to July 31, 2026. The project encompasses 130 different types of assistive devices, meticulously selected to support individuals with visual, physical, cerebral palsy, hearing, and speech impairments.
For those interested in experiencing the devices firsthand, Incheon City will host a regional exhibition. This event will take place from June 11 to 12, 2026, at the Incheon City Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired. For general inquiries about the project, individuals can call 1588-2670. A dedicated telecommunication relay service is available for hearing and speech-impaired individuals by dialing 107. Further questions can be directed to the Incheon Metropolitan City Information Division at 032-440-2317.
