1The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced plans to install 28 new Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras within Bukhansan Dream Forest, a major public park located in northern Seoul. This initiative is part of the “Dream Forest Intelligent CCTV and False Detection Prevention System Establishment Project,” which aims to bolster public safety, prevent crime, and improve facility management throughout the park. The city is currently holding a public consultation period, inviting citizens to provide their feedback on the proposed installations.
The new surveillance system will comprise 28 cameras in total, including seven rotating and 21 fixed units. These cameras are slated for installation at seven specific locations within the park. Key areas include one camera in the Children’s Forest, two at the Cheongundapwon Deck Shelter, one at the West Gate Plaza, one at the Wolf Plaza, one at the rear entrance of the Sangsang Toktok Art Museum, and one near the Byeogosan exercise equipment area. Further details regarding the exact installation sites are provided in the supplementary documents accompanying the official notice.
In accordance with Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act (Article 25) and the Administrative Procedures Act (Article 46), the Seoul Metropolitan Government is conducting this administrative notice period to gather public opinion before proceeding with the project. This process ensures transparency and allows residents, organizations, and groups to voice any concerns or suggestions regarding the new CCTV installations. Such consultations are crucial for balancing public safety enhancements with privacy considerations in public spaces.
The public consultation period for this project runs from May 22 to June 10, 2026. Individuals or organizations wishing to submit an opinion must complete the designated opinion submission form. This form requires specific details, including the submitter’s name (or organization name and representative’s name), date of birth, address, and telephone number, along with their detailed comments on the proposed CCTV installations.
Opinions can be submitted through several methods:
For any inquiries regarding the project or the submission process, citizens may contact Eom Seong-hyeon at the Seoul Metropolitan Government Northern Parks and Recreation Center at 02-2289-4075. It is important to note that if no opinions are submitted by the deadline, it will be assumed that no feedback was provided for the project.
